How important are warehouse logistics for an electric motor distributor? The company Brd. Klee A/S answers this question with action: to optimize logistics processes, it has implemented a solution using an autonomous mobile robot from OMRON.
Brd. Klee A/S, part of the Bonfiglioli Excellence Service Team, is based in Albertslund, in the Copenhagen metropolitan area, and offers technical solutions for various industries.
“The goal was to eliminate manual labor and improve flexibility in the day-to-day handling of shipments. The company considered forklifts as an alternative, but felt a more flexible, safe and efficient solution was needed. Replacing manual carts with a mobile robotic solution was a key choice,” OMRON explains.
In practice, the choise is implementing automation in logistics for electric motor warehouse. the solution consists of an OMRON LD250 mobile robot, suitable for efficiently transporting 10 carts equipped with Euro Pallets. Warehouse operators fill these carts with products, and the LD250 robot autonomously transports them from the warehouse to the shipping area.
“Our warehouse is quite large and our internal product flow includes numerous parts, which need to be transported from point A to point B, a distance of about 80 meters. Multiplying this by 30 to 40 times a day adds up to more than 6 kilometers. Our goal was to automate internal transportation in order to save our colleagues valuable time and allow them to spend that time on other tasks,” explained Claus Andersen, team leader of Brd’s warehouse and logistics department.
“The new process works perfectly: we save many man-hours on the time it takes to transport products back and forth, taking full advantage of the AMR solution. In addition, the parts to be transported are extremely heavy and we don’t want our employees to have to deal with them, for their own good. Therefore, the mobile robot certainly also contributes to a better and safer working environment. Our employees are enthusiastic about this solution, which has proven to be very reliable,” Claus Andersen noted.
