Repower invites innovators, startups, and civic organizations to reimagine e-mobility and how it can reshape Milan’s urban landscape — starting with its distinctive fleet of pedal-assist cargo bikes.
Milan, one of Europe’s most forward-thinking cities in sustainable transport, is once again at the center of innovation. This December, Repower, the Swiss group active in both the energy and e-mobility sectors, launched a Call for Ideas that aims to turn creativity and technology into tangible mobility solutions for the city and its communities.
The Call for Ideas is open until January 30, 2026.
At the heart of the initiative lies a question that many urban planners are asking: how can low-emission vehicles help cities become not only greener, but also more inclusive and livable?
Repower is betting on a uniquely Milanese answer — its LAMBROgio and LAMBROgino electric cargo bikes — designer vehicles that blend Italian style, functional design, and sustainable innovation.
Innovation Meets Community Spirit
Through the Call for Ideas, Repower is opening its fleet of 30 pedal-assist cargo bikes to entrepreneurs, associations, educational institutions, and local entities ready to pilot new mobility projects. Each proposal should connect with one or more of five key themes: socially impactful services such as solidarity deliveries or neighborhood assistance; urban logistics projects integrating zero-emission transport, cultural or educational initiatives that bring e-mobility into public spaces, creative branding or artistic performances using cargo bikes as moving canvases, new models of shared mobility tailored to community needs. The projects proposed for use during the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics will receive special consideration — a symbolic stage where Italy’s commitment to sustainable innovation can shine globally.
A vision for a “Human-Scale” City
For Repower, this is more than a corporate campaign. It’s a way to align technology, design, and community spirit. “We launched this Call for Ideas because we’ve always believed in promoting sustainable mobility,” said Fabio Bocchiola, CEO of Repower Italia. “Our fleet, which won the Compasso d’Oro in 2022 and features Bosch motor technology, represents an opportunity to combine creativity and environmental awareness. Supporting local communities, inclusion, and accessibility are values that define who we are.”
Beyond the competition, Repower will provide tangible support: selected projects will gain free access to the cargo bikes — first for testing, then for a full year — as well as visibility through media campaigns, interviews, and video storytelling curated by the company.
Originally designed by Makio Hasuike & Co., the LAMBRO family of cargo bikes transcends the label of simple transport tools. They’re part urban experiment, part design icon — agile enough for Milan’s narrow streets, strong enough for delivery routes, and stylish enough to double as urban symbols of a more conscious lifestyle.
By integrating e-mobility into everyday social and cultural systems, this initiative showcases how innovation can serve people first. As major cities across Europe rethink the role of micro-mobility, Repower’s effort in Milan could mark a shift — transforming cargo bikes from niche devices into shared, flexible assets that bring technology down to a human scale.
