Renault Group’s Ampere facility in Cléon has marked a significant moment in its history by inaugurating a new production line dedicated to the dual motor 7DL, the innovative rear powertrain designed for the Alpine A390, the brand’s innovative fully electric fastback set for launch at the end of 2025.

Cléon, already distinguished as Renault’s mechanical excellence centre, has now produced over one million electric powertrains since 2015—a testament to its leadership in EV technology and industrialization. The plant’s technological edge is further reinforced by its use of cutting-edge digitalization, AI-driven quality control, and total traceability on the shop floor, all contributing to its World Economic Forum “Industry 4.0” recognition.

The Alpine A390, the second addition to Alpine’s all-electric Dream Garage – a sleek fastback sports car that combines state-of-the-art technologies with the brand’s legendary driving experience – stands as the latest milestone in the brand’s transition towards electrification, equipping a front 6AM 160 kW motor and a rear dual 7DL module comprising two 125 kW motors, for a total 250 kW at the rear axle. This arrangement allows for advanced torque vectoring, resulting in exceptional agility and a remarkable 0-100 km/h sprint in just 3.9 seconds, confirming the sports DNA synonymous with Alpine. Every assembly stage—down to screwing, stacking, and calibration—is performed with meticulous precision, backed by high-tech monitoring systems and exhaustive bench testing for vibrations, acoustics, and robustness.

Beyond motor production, Cléon is pivoting towards greater integration of power electronics, aiming to reduce the size of electrical components by 40% and manage logistics sustainably by favouring local suppliers. The site is also launching a dedicated campus for specialized workforce training.
