Ewiva has inaugurated Italy’s first public ultra-fast charging station for electric trucks in Piacenza, marking a significant milestone for sustainable logistics and heavy-duty transport electrification.
The new facility features six 400kW charging points, the highest capacity yet deployed by the company, on a 2,400sqm site strategically located near the motorway, designed to accommodate large vehicles with drive-through access and extra-large bays measuring 20 by 4 meters.
Technical Features
The station is equipped with six ultra-fast charging columns, each capable of delivering up to 400kW, allowing for rapid turnaround and compatibility with the logistical needs of electric trucks. The layout supports easy ingress and egress for articulated vehicles, while the site includes optimal night-time illumination and clear signage. Accessibility and safety are prioritized with pedestrian walkways, ramps for persons with reduced mobility, and protective barriers for both users and infrastructure.
This new infrastructure is seen as pivotal for decarbonizing freight transport in Italy, offering dedicated support for electric heavy vehicles on public grounds for the first time. While primarily targeting trucks, the station is also accessible to all electric vehicles due to its substantial power and large format. The initiative results from a close partnership between Ewiva and Piacenza’s municipal authorities, setting an example of effective public-private collaboration in advancing sustainable mobility.
Ewiva has consolidated its presence in Emilia-Romagna with over 40 sites and more than 160 high-powered charging points in the region, four of which are operational in Piacenza alone. Nationwide, by September 2025, Ewiva counts over 400 high-power stations (100kW to 400kW) and more than 1,500 charging points. This robust deployment along key highways and urban centers ensures rapid access and helps operators reduce downtime, making the switch to electric vehicles more practical for logistics companies.
