Mitsubishi Electric has announced a new partnership with Tramec, European gearbox manufacturer, aimed at developing based on Mitsubishi’s EM-A synchronous motors from the ultra-high efficiency IE5+ series.
This collaboration enables Mitsubishi Electric to offer integrated motor and gearbox solutions that meet the growing demand in the European market for high-performance and energy-efficient industrial drives. The companies said that the Mitsubishi Electric and Tramec partnership represents an advancement in delivering high-efficiency, sustainable industrial drive solutions. By integrating IE5+ synchronous motors with premium gearboxes, this collaboration effectively addresses the European manufacturing industry’s needs for energy optimization and environmental impact reduction, supporting the ongoing digital and green transformation of industrial operations.
Mitsubishi Electric’s EM-A synchronous motors deliver top-tier energy efficiency, classified as IE5+, the highest efficiency class currently available for industrial motors. When combined with Tramec’s gearboxes—renowned for mechanical efficiency and build quality—the resulting gearmotor system achieves superior overall transmission efficiency.
The plus are stable speed under varying load conditions, thanks to the synchronous operation of the EM-A motor, ensuring reliable and consistent performance, significant energy consumption reduction, directly lowering operational costs and CO2 emissions, simplified machine architecture through sensorless positioning capabilities, reducing complexity and maintenance expenses. Furthermore, enhanced reliability and easier maintenance, minimizing downtime and service costs.
According to the Manufacturing Momentum Report 2025, 40% of manufacturers identify achieving net zero emissions as their primary sustainability challenge. Given that electric motors account for approximately 70% of global industrial electricity consumption, optimizing motor efficiency is critical.
