KISSsoft System Module by KISSsoft introduces innovative approaches for modeling, calculating  and evaluating gearboxes. With the “Sketcher”, kinematics and topology of complex transmissions can be created within a few seconds using the mouse in a grid window, similar to sketching by hand with pen on paper. This enables elegant modeling, redesign, or verification of applications such as hybrid drives known from the automotive industry, or gearboxes with special planetary stages used in robotics.

According to standards ISO, DIN, and AGMA standards

Global settings, including lubrication, temperatures, and calculation standards, can be centrally defined in the system data table and taken into account in the calculations. The strength calculations of gears, shafts and bearings, which are performed according to established standards such as ISO, DIN, and AGMA, are computed in the corresponding KISSsoft modules. The system module automatically manages the correct application of geometry and load data, whether nominal loads or load spectra, and transfers them to the respective calculation modules.

Several advantages

After successful completed definition, the gearbox is displayed in the 3D viewer allowing for design space and collision checks. This is particularly important when dealing with fine pitch gear applications. One of the many other functions available, is the possibility to consider housing stiffness, which allows a detailed evaluation of the tooth contacts based on realistic shaft misalignments.

Further advantages of the system level approach include the option to account for total gearbox power losses, allowing the overall efficiency to be calculated. In a next step, combined with the thermal analysis, parameters such as the oil temperature during operation or the thermal power limit can be determined. This significantly simplifies the required certification steps, particularly for industrial gearboxes.

In addition to standard rating methods, dynamic analyses for high‑speed applications such as turbo gearboxes can be performed, allowing the identification of critical speeds through modal analysis and the generation of Campbell diagrams. For noise and vibration analysis, the forced response calculation  provides within seconds important information on gear mesh excitations and on dynamic bearing forces. After running the calculations successfully, the results can be visualized and compared in summary reports, overview tables, graphics and diagrams.

Freedom in the customization of calculations

For experienced users, the system module offers virtually unlimited freedom in the customization of calculations, interfaces, inputs and outputs via the integrated scripting language.

In summary, the KISSsoft System Module provides a complete solution for all transmission applications and state-of-the-art analyses, offering an intuitive user interface and application-relevant options for engineers, designers or research professionals.
