The first full electric fire truck equips the Team 82 in Los Angeles in the United States and the fourth EV fire truck in the world. It is Rosenbauer RT, which has recently received the State Prize for Mobility in the category “Climate-friendly technologies – sustainable value creation”. This category recognizes innovations that promote industrial trends that help to achieve climate neutrality in the key fields of mobility, and which demonstrate new climate-friendly approaches to sustainable mobility.
The Austrian producer has equipped the vehicle for seven firemen, it can transport up to 300 metres of hoses and a water tank from 1900 to 2800 litres. The truck is provided with two electric motors that produce 360 kW of maximum power and 260 kW in continuous, which are equivalent to 490 HP and 350 HP. The battery has a power of 132 ah. For the longest fire-fighting interventions, the truck has a range extender diesel-powered to recharge batteries or to supply a water pump when necessary.
At the truck presentation, the manager of the firemen of Los Angeles city, Kristin Crowley, declared: “We are proud of being able to add this fire engine to our fleet. The electric motor features many advantages, and first of all it will decrease noise and it will also improve all passengers’ general wellbeing.”
How much does it cost? It seems slightly more than one million Euros.
