According to the summer announcements of Mase, the Italian electric car bonus kicks off right now, in September 2025. Thanks to the newly signed decree from the Ministry for Environment and Energy Security, both individuals and micro-enterprises soon can officially start applying for these powerful incentives, which are reserved for residents in major urban areas and the owners of older combustion vehicles ready for scrapping.

The incentive campaign officially starts this month – so far the date is not known – following the green light from government authorities. Applications are managed via a digital platform designed to make the process fast and transparent for both buyers and dealers. The funds—nearly €600 million—are available until June 30, 2026, but with the risk these resources may run out quickly due to high demand.

How It Works
The electric car bonus is reserved for residents in so-called “functional urban areas” (cities with over 50,000 inhabitants and their commuter belts) and micro-enterprises headquartered there. For individuals, the incentive is up to €11,000 for those with an ISEE income up to €30,000, and up to €9,000 for those between €30,000 and €40,000.
Micro-enterprises can receive up to 30% of the vehicle’s price, to a maximum of €20,000 for each new electric commercial vehicle, with a limit of two vehicles per enterprise.
The old car to be scrapped must be at least Euro 5 standard or below and registered to the applicant (or a cohabiting relative) for at least 12 months.
The bonus is applied as a direct discount at purchase and is not cumulative with other state car incentives.
Only specific fully electric models are eligible, with an approved Ecoscore, and the incentive is valid for cars up to €35,000 list price.
